A comprehensive practice, our work traverses the world of accessories, focusing on the design and development of footwear, handbags, and other leather and non-leather goods. From time to time, we extend more broadly for certain houses, developing fine jewelry, fragrance and even the occasional chaise.
Our studio on Manhattan’s Broad Street, in the emerging fashion district anchored by Conde Nast, is a full-service agency with a proven track record in the formation of new businesses, the category extension of existing brands, and the reinvigoration of venerable companies. With a history spanning luxury and technology, we have been instrumental in the success of our clients for over a decade, a roster including Calvin Klein Collection, Ghurka, Derek Lam, Marchesa, Hunter Boot, Monique Lhuillier, Judith Leiber, Cole Haan and many others.
From capsule collections to complete rebranding, DQ's broad scope and comprehensive global network are a turn-key resource for the industry. As "ghost" designers, we can successfully operate in tandem with your current design team, or work separately to develop new businesses, deliver advanced R&D projects, or restructure your business for a changing landscape.
FRANK ZAMBRELLI was headed for medical school when an unexpected trip to the European shows radically altered his plans. Heading instead to the Fashion Institute of Technology, he graduated with a dream job at Chanel, alternating his time between Paris and New York. John Varvatos, then at Cole Haan, gave him his next big break, the opportunity to further develop his craft in European factories. His tenure led him to Coach and the successful launch of the venerable firm’s foray into new businesses. In 2003, with support from the global fashion community and press, Design Quadrant was born, shaping collections and brands across the luxury sector. Beyond the studio, Frank is the current Chairman of the Accessories Council, serves on the Alumni Board of Directors of the FIT, and is the Senior Advisor to Glasgow Caledonian University's Fair Fashion Center.
Prior to Design Quadrant, SARA DALY ROTER worked with Grey Global, where she supervised key media outlets for major brands within Diageo (KetelOne, Johnnie Walker, Smirnoff, Baileys, Crown Royal). She honed her marketing and design talents at Parsons School of Design in New York. Sara and her team focus their efforts on design direction and the product development process. Guiding design, she plays an instrumental role with each brand and collection, directing color, trend and materials with each of our global partners. She spends considerable time in Italy and elsewhere sourcing macro trends and inspiration for the studio and it's clients.
